Avoid Surgery

Only One in One Hundred patients will actually need an open back surgery.

Only 1-3% of patients with degenerative conditions of the lumbar spine require lumbar spine surgery.

Approximately 97% of painful lumbar spine conditions resolve satisfactorily with aggressive conservative care.

The vast majority of lumbar spine surgery is performed because of failure of conservative care.  However, if the quality of conservative care is poor or the rehabilitation program is not customized for each patient’s unique spinal condition, the number of patients who fail conservative care and receive surgery increases.

Some of the disadvantages of the spinal surgery may include:

Ø      Risk of nerve injury and epidural or intraneural fibrosis,

Ø      Increased functional disability secondary to tissue destruction,

Ø      Increased damage to soft tissue (muscles),

Ø      High risk of complication from scarring,

Ø      Blood loss,

Ø      Infection,

Ø    Long recovery time due to surrounding tissue damage,

Ø      Increased cost
