About Us

The Texas Pain & Spine Institute is a state-of-the-art treatment facility located in Amarillo Texas. In addition, TPSI has a state-of-the-art ambulatory center called Acute and Chronic Pain & Spine Center. Both of these facilities are under one roof. We have been successfully treating patients for all types of Chronic Pain disorders for over 10 years.

Our reputation in successfully treating pain disorders has traveled beyond state lines. People come to us from all over the United States to receive treatment in our state-of-the-art facility. Our 10,000 sq. ft. facility is filled with multiple examination rooms and treatment rooms, physical therapy, x-ray and an Ambulatory Surgery Center.

Our ambulatory surgery center is equipped with operating rooms and recovery room facilities. When necessary, procedures are performed under fluoroscopic guidance.

The Medical Director at the Texas Pain & Spine Institute and the Acute & Chronic Pain and Spine Center is Dr. B.J. Daneshfar, M.D., FIPP, DABA, DABPM, DAAPM, BCCERA. Dr. Daneshfar has been practicing pain management for over 28 years.

Our approach to pain treatment is a multidisciplinary approach. This means that there are multiple specialists involved in the treatment of pain disorders. These include pain physicians, anesthesiologists, psychiatrists, surgeons, chiropractors, nursing specialists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and others. Many of these specialists require inputs into the care of a patient with complex painful conditions and disorders, which generally is a continuum of symptoms and pathology. Bejan J. Daneshfar, MD

Dr. Daneshfar is the Medical Director at the Texas Pain & Spine Institute. He is a pain specialist certified by several boards in the United States.

Dr. Daneshfar did his undergraduate work at Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, MO. He earned Degrees in Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics & Physics Sciences graduating with honors. His studies also included Electronics, Biophysics, Transistor Transistor Logics (TTL) as well as auto mechanics. He attended the University of Missouri School of Medicine in Columbia, Missouri graduating with honors as well.

He continued his specialty residency training in anesthesiology at the University of Missouri Medical Center and the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Columbia, Missouri. Dr. Daneshfar entered the U.S. Air Force Medical Corps in 1986 until 1990. He served as a Medical Director of The Prestigious Dannnemiller Pain Clinic.

He directed multiple departments at Wilford Hall U.S. Air Force Medical Center. Dr. Daneshfar also started the first official pain management clinic at Northwest Texas Healthcare Systems in Amarillo, Texas in 1990. He was the Director of the department of anesthesia at Northwest Texas health-care systems until 1996. He has been the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer of the Texas Anesthesia Group PA, Texas Anesthesiology Group PA, Steam Boat Medical Developments, and the New Horizons Physician Practice Management Inc. in Amarillo, Texas. He has served as the Medical Director of the Acute and Chronic Pain Management Center since 1996. He is currently the medical director and CEO of the Texas Pain & Spine Institute located in Amarillo, Texas.

Dr. Daneshfar is the founder of Texas Pain & Spine Institute and Acute & Chronic Pain & Spine Center and oversees both the clinic and The Ambulatory Surgery Center. Dr. Daneshfar has great passion for patients in pain and has made great contributions to their care. He nurtures and maintains an attitude of servant hood and that all patients are considered family so that no double standards of care exist.

Daniel Daneshfar, MD

Dr. Daniel B. Daneshfar joined our team at Texas Pain & Spine Institute (TPSI) and Acute & Chronic Pain and Spine Center (ACPSC) in March of 2015 as the Surgical Consultant for ACPSC. In January of 2019 Dr. Daneshfar came on board full time as the Director of West Texas Vascular Cath Lab located at ACPSC.

Daniel B. Daneshfar, M.D. DABS, FSVS, is a General/Vascular Surgeon and Trauma Surgeon and currently treats Vascular Diseases at TPSI. Daniel is Dr. BJ Daneshfar’s little brother.

What many patients and some physicians do not know about Vascular Surgery is that a Vascular Surgeon is actually a primary care provider for the Vascular System. Many Vascular conditions are treated without a surgery or procedure.

Dr. Daneshfar is trained in Vascular Medicine, Endovascular Surgery, and Open Vascular Surgery, which offers the most appropriate intervention for the patient relating to a better outcome.

Dr. Daneshfar's approach and attitude towards his patient's is always kind and compassionate. His patients love him.

Dr. Daneshfar is a technology enthusiast, and enjoys traveling.

Robert Alan Murphey, PA-C

Robert Alan Murphey joined our team at the Texas Pain & Spine Institute and Acute & Chronic Pain and Spine Center in March of 2010 as a Certified Physician Assistant.

Alan has over 20 years of experience in the field of medicine ranging from Family Practice to Emergency care. Alan has served on a Medical team with the American Red Cross and Fire Department in Nebraska.

Alan is always smiling, everybody loves Alan!

Along with his PA-C Alan also has a Bachelors Degree in Nursing. Alan enjoys giving back to his community and spending time with his family and Church.



Andrew Sauer, DMSc-P.A.-C

Andrew Sauer DMSc PA-C joined our team at Acute & Chronic Pain and Spine Center in August 2018 as a Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C).

Andrew received his Doctorate in Medical Science (DMSc) in 2020 from the University of Lynchburg.  Andrew graduated with his Masters Degree in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) in 2014 from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.  Prior to graduating from Texas Tech he earned degrees from Amarillo College in both radiology and nuclear medicine.  Prior to becoming a physician assistant, Andrew practiced in the fields of nuclear medicine (N), computed tomography (CT), and general radiology (R) as a registered technologist. Andrew has worked as a physician assistant in the areas of interventional radiology, rheumatology, pulmonology, and immunology.  He is currently active in the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) and active in the Texas Academy of Physician Assistants (TAPA).

Andrew is certified as a physician assistant by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), is a Registered Technologist in Radiology with specialty certifications in Computed Tomography and Nuclear Medicine by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), and also carries duel certification as a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) by the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB).

You can always hear laughter coming from Andrew's patient rooms. Andrew is extremely thorough, smart, honest, and enjoys the camaraderie among the pain team.

Andrew has a lovely wife who is also in the medical field.

Megan Wait, FNP-C

Megan Wait joined our team at ACPSC in April of 2019. Megan is a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C). Before earning her degree as a FNP-C, Megan was a Registered Nurse for 11 years.

Megan has experience in Family Practice, Acute Rehabilitation, Facility Skilled Nursing, Long Term Care, Cardiology, Med/Surgery, Nursery, and PACU.

Megan enjoys spending family time with her husband and 2 children, loves walks with her dogs and outdoor activities.

We have a complete, professional staff to serve you. Our staff consists of Pain Physicians, Anesthesiologists/Pain Specialist, Licensed Professional Counselors, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, Licensed Vocational Nurses, Medical Assistants, Surgical Technicians, X-Ray Technicians, Physical Therapists.

All of these specialists have an input into the care of each of our patients during their continuous treatment plans. Whether you find them in the surgery center, in the examination room or in the business office, all our staff has one goal... That is, to serve our patients.
